What is an EPC
An Energy Performance Certificate is a report on the energy performance
of a commercial or domestic property. The report must be produced in
accordance with European law and must be in place before any property
can be marketed of sale or let.
In general terms the EPC is introduced to assess the energy performance
of a building. The EPC is similar to the certificates found on many
domestic appliances.
The EPC rates the building from A to G. An A rating shows the property
is very efficient, this will result in lower fuel bills and lower carbon
emissions.
The EPC shows a buildings environmental impact by indicating its carbon
dioxide emissions. Carbon dioxide emissions are extremely damaging to
the environment. The higher the rating the less impact on the
environment.
The EPC can only be carried out by a qualified assessor. For more
